My Locket

How it works

Powered by facts, animated by AI

My Locket is a fact-based digital representation of yourself (persona), owned by you, designed to chat in realistic historical re-enactments with others who are/were connected to you throughout your life.

AI does not make up the details of your life. It only voices the words you would’ve spoken at a specific moment given what it knows about you - exactly what you told it.

What you told it
  • CoreBorn May 14, 1979, Boston
  • CareerChemistry teacher, 2014 – present
  • PlaceHyde Park, Austin, from spring 2017
  • HealthBad knee, fall 2017 – winter 2018

How’s the knee holding up down there?
Walking to school again, finally. Austin in December beats Boston in December. Are you coming down for Christmas?

Your timeline

Real lives are messy, which is why the My Locket persona builder uses a powerful swimlane system to represent the overlap between the different phases/events/pieces of your life. This is how it builds an accurate picture of what you would’ve said on a random day like December 12th, 2017. You can continue to build your persona over time until it is the most accurate representation of yourself possible.

Designed to be shared

Chats with a My Locket persona are always done assuming someone who is connected to the person at the time. You as the conversing participant are never a stranger, and the persona will respond to you given what it knows of you as well as its position on you. As the owner of your own persona you may chat with yourself at any time, using any other persona in your account as the other end of the conversation.

You may share your persona with others so that they can put you in their own re-enactments. There are two sharing security modes - one allows the persona to only be used by other My Locket accounts with whom you’ve shared your profile (default and recommended), the other allows you to share it with a specific person in mind.

You may create any number of personas in your account, including those for relations you have with others. You may also use Quick Add to record someone in your life without a persona of their own: the AI then only knows what you write about them. However, the best and most accurate re-enactments are going to be when each persona is owned by the person it is representing and has shared it with you.

A credit system that makes sense

There are no recurring fees for using My Locket. All usage is on a pay-as-you-go basis. There are three ways to pay:

  • Credits - every exchange a persona makes costs 1 credit. This is the cheapest way to use My Locket
  • Unlimited Blocks - a persona that has an unlimited block assigned has unlimited exchanges for the duration of the block (1 month)
  • Forever Option - the Forever Option keeps a persona active forever for a single one-time payment. This is a fairly expensive option that is designed to be included as a part of end-of-life planning.

You may purchase these on the Credits page.

You may assign credits or unlimited blocks to any persona in your account - including those shared with you. Purchase credits and add them to personas of family and friends as gifts or to ensure that you can continue to chat with them.

Your account will start with 25 credits to test your personas - these may not be shared with others.

End of life handled gracefully

When a persona’s owner passes, let us know through the Contact page. We’ll make sure that the deceased date of their persona is added to their profile and that their account is deactivated. Their persona will still be available to you and you will be able to chat with them so long as they have credits. You may still add credits to that persona.

You absolutely will not be able to put a deceased persona in re-enactments where the time the re-enactment happens is after their deceased date. You will still be able to create re-enactments at times when they were alive. We want you to travel through time to relive your best memories with them, but reanimating them from the dead is not realistic and not fair to them.

Under no circumstances will you be allowed to view or edit a shared persona that does not belong to you, even if they are deceased.
